Effective date: 5 November 2026 · Version 2.0
These Service Terms and Conditions apply to every translation, interpretation and review service arranged through LingVata, which is operated by M & J Tech Suits LLC, 4938 S 24th St., Omaha, Nebraska 68107, United States. They supplement the Terms of Service and are read together with the quotation or direct-hire confirmation for your job.
1. Translation services
Translation is charged per the unit stated in the quotation: word, page, document or project. Unless agreed otherwise, the word count is calculated on the source document as submitted at checkout. Changes to the source document, the target audience, the terminology list or the deadline after a quotation is accepted may require a new or supplementary quotation. Final pricing is the price stated in the quotation or direct-hire price you accept.
2. Scope, terminology and formats
The quotation reflects the scope described in your request. Unless expressly included, the following are not part of a translation job: desktop publishing and layout reconstruction, subtitling and time-coding, software localisation and testing, transcription, proofreading of a translation produced by someone else, notarisation, and certification by a third party. Machine translation of the source as a starting point is not provided unless the professional agrees to it in writing.
3. Certified and sworn translation
A certified translation is a statement of completeness and accuracy signed by the translator or reviewing body. It is not a government certification, an apostille or a consular legalisation, and it does not guarantee that a receiving authority will accept the document. Requirements vary by country and by institution. Confirm the requirement of the authority receiving the document before you order, and request the specific certification wording you need.
4. Interpretation services
Interpretation is charged per minute, hour, session or day as displayed. Video sessions run on the meeting link in the booking. Telephone sessions require a reachable number for the full booked time. In-person sessions require an accurate venue address, on-site contact details, and any access or security requirements; travel and waiting time outside the agreed scope may be chargeable.
- Interpretation is delivered live and cannot be revised after the session.
- Interpreters interpret what is said. They do not give legal, medical, financial or other professional advice, and they do not advocate for either party.
- Recording a session requires the prior agreement of every participant and of the interpreter.
- Consecutive, simultaneous and whispered modes are different services with different requirements; the mode in the booking governs.
- Where more than one interpreter is required for a long session, this is stated in the quotation before booking.
5. Direct hiring
When you hire directly, you select the professional and the service, see the full price breakdown, and pay through LingVata. An assignment is created only after the payment provider confirms the payment. A professional's availability shown on the Platform is indicative; the booking is confirmed only after payment and acceptance.
6. Quotations
A quotation states the price, currency, delivery time or session time, scope and validity period (currently 72 hours unless the quotation says otherwise). Submitting a quotation never assigns a job. The job is created when the customer accepts a quotation and the payment is confirmed. LingVata may receive several quotations for one request.
7. Delivery, review and revisions
Deliverables are made available in the project workspace. Review them promptly. If the delivery does not conform to the agreed scope, describe the specific non-conformity and request a revision within the review window. Revisions correct non-conformity with the agreed scope; they do not cover new instructions, new source material, or a change of style preference that was not part of the brief. Each job includes the revision rounds stated in the quotation.
8. Confidentiality
Customer material is confidential. Professionals may not disclose, reuse or publish it. A job may be marked confidential, in which case the professional may not use it as a portfolio sample. Where a confidentiality agreement or a data processing agreement is required for your organisation, contact us at privacy@lingvata.com before the job starts.
9. Sensitive content
Do not submit material that you are not entitled to share, material subject to a protective order without the necessary permission, or material whose disclosure would be unlawful. If a document contains special category data or information about a third party, tell us in the brief so that handling can be agreed.
10. Rights in the delivered work
On full payment, the customer receives the rights in the delivered work agreed in the quotation to the extent the professional holds them. Where the law of the professional's country grants moral rights that cannot be waived, the professional may still be identified as the author where you publish the work. Tell us before the job if you need a waiver or a specific rights wording.
11. No professional advice and no guarantee of acceptance
Translations and interpretations are linguistic services. They are not legal, medical, financial, tax or immigration advice, and an interpreter's presence does not create a professional advisory relationship. LingVata and the professional do not guarantee that a court, government body, regulator, university, employer or other third party will accept the delivered work.
12. Urgent work and changes
Rush delivery is available only if the professional confirms it and it is priced in the quotation. Changes requested after work has started are handled as a new scope: the professional may decline, requote, or agree to an adjusted deadline.
13. Problems, disputes and refunds
If you are not satisfied, request a revision first. If the issue is not resolved, open a dispute in the project workspace within 7 days of delivery. LingVata may review the brief, the delivered files and the message history and may decide on a partial or full refund under the Refund and Cancellation Policy. Chargebacks raised directly with a bank instead of through the in-platform process may lead to suspension while the matter is investigated.
