FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions customers and professionals ask most about LingVata: pricing and commission, payments and payouts, revisions, disputes, verification and how documents are protected.

Getting started

How LingVata works and how to choose between translation and interpretation.

What is LingVata?

+

LingVata is a marketplace that connects customers with verified translators and interpreters. You can search by language pair, specialization and rate, post a project and receive quotations, or hire a professional directly. Payment, review and dispute handling all happen in one place.

Should I book a translator or an interpreter?

+

Choose translation when you have written material (documents, contracts, websites, subtitles) that needs converting into another language. Choose interpretation when people need to communicate live, in a meeting, call, conference or appointment. Translators work on text; interpreters work in real time.

Can I hire a specific professional?

+

Yes. Direct hiring lets you open a professional profile, see their rates and estimated price, and pay immediately. The assignment is created once the payment provider confirms the payment.

How do I post a project and receive quotes?

+

Describe the language pair, word count or session length, deadline and specialization. The request goes to matching verified professionals, who respond with a price and delivery estimate. You compare quotations and accept the one that fits.

Pricing and payments

What you pay, what professionals earn and how money is held.

How much does a translation cost?

+

Professionals set their own rates where the platform allows it, and administrators can configure default rates per service. Before you pay you always see the service amount, the LingVata commission and the processing fee, so the total is never a surprise.

What is the LingVata commission?

+

LingVata adds a commission to the professional’s service amount. The commission rate is configurable by platform administrators and is always displayed separately from what the professional earns on the quotation and the payment record.

When does a professional get paid?

+

Funds are recorded against the job when your payment is confirmed. Earnings become payable after the platform’s hold period, which covers the review window, and are released through a payout request that a finance administrator processes.

Which currencies and payment methods are supported?

+

Prices are shown in the currency configured for the professional or platform, with an indicative conversion where a display currency differs. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; LingVata never stores card details.

Quality, revisions and disputes

What happens if the delivered work is not what you agreed.

What if I am not happy with the translation?

+

Ask for a revision first. Revisions are logged against the project with the reason and the professional’s response. If the work still does not match the agreed scope, you can escalate to a dispute.

How do I open a dispute?

+

Open a dispute from the project or booking within 7 days of delivery and choose a category such as quality, incomplete work, missed deadline or missed session. Describe what went wrong and attach any evidence. A platform administrator investigates and records an outcome.

How are refunds decided?

+

A finance administrator reviews the dispute and the payment record, then issues a full or partial refund, releases the payout to the professional, or takes no financial action. The Refund and Cancellation Policy sets out the timelines that apply.

What is the cancellation policy for interpreter sessions?

+

Cancellations inside the notice window set by the platform (24 hours before the session by default) may not be refundable, because the interpreter has already reserved the time. Cancel as early as possible and the reason is recorded on the booking.

Trust, privacy and safety

Verification, document handling and how your data is protected.

How are professionals verified?

+

Every professional submits identity and qualification documents. A platform reviewer checks them before the profile is approved. Until verification is approved, a professional cannot appear in marketplace search, take paid work or receive payouts.

Who can see the documents I upload?

+

Uploaded files are stored privately and opened through time-limited links. Only you, the professional assigned to the job and platform staff performing verification or dispute work can access them. Files are never published to the public web.

Are interpreted sessions recorded?

+

No. Nothing is recorded automatically. Any recording would require the informed consent of every participant, and LingVata does not record sessions by default.

How are time zones handled for sessions?

+

Every session is stored in UTC and displayed in your local time zone. Bookings that would overlap an interpreter’s existing session are rejected before a session is created.
