M & J Tech Suits LLC is the controller responsible for the personal data described in this Policy. If you have a question, a request, or a complaint about privacy, contact us at privacy@lingvata.com.
2. Scope
This Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit the Platform, create an account, request a quote, hire a professional, apply to work as a professional, message another user, or contact support, and it explains the choices you have. It does not apply to websites or services run by other companies, including a professional's own website or a payment provider's checkout pages.
3. Personal data we collect
Data you give us
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored only as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider), country, time zone, preferred language and currency.
- Professional application and profile data: professional type, biography, headline, country, languages, language pairs, specializations, certifications, qualifications, years of experience, rates, availability, portfolio samples, and the identity and qualification documents you upload for verification.
- Project and booking data: source and target languages, specialization, descriptions, word counts, deadlines, uploaded files, session type, date, time, duration, meeting link, venue address and any access requirements.
- Payment and payout data: transaction identifiers, amounts, currency, commission, processing fees, payout status and payout account country. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment providers; LingVata does not receive or store full card numbers.
- Communications: messages exchanged with another user inside a project or booking, support tickets, and emails you send us.
- Records of consent: the legal documents you accept, the version you accepted, the timestamp and the method used.
Data we collect automatically
- Device and connection data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, language and approximate location derived from IP.
- Usage data such as pages viewed, searches performed, profiles viewed, features used and errors encountered.
- Security data such as sign-in times and session identifiers, used to protect accounts and detect fraud.
Data from other sources
- Verification and payment providers may confirm the result of an identity check, a payment or a payout.
- A customer or professional may include information about you in a message or a document they upload.
We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send us, special category data (for example health data, religious beliefs or political opinions). Documents uploaded for translation may contain such information: we process those documents only to deliver the service you requested.

| Purpose | Legal basis (where GDPR applies) | | --- | --- | | Creating and administering accounts, providing the marketplace | Performance of a contract | | Publishing professional profiles so customers can find and hire professionals | Performance of a contract | | Verifying professional identity and qualifications | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests in marketplace trust and safety | | Processing payments, commissions, payouts and refunds | Performance of a contract; legal obligation (tax and accounting) | | Delivering projects and interpretation sessions, including messaging and file exchange | Performance of a contract | | Preventing fraud, abuse and off-platform circumvention | Legitimate interests | | Responding to support requests and disputes | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests | | Improving the Platform, understanding which features are used | Legitimate interests; consent where required (analytics cookies) | | Sending service messages (assignment, delivery, payment, security) | Performance of a contract | | Sending optional product news and offers | Consent, or legitimate interests where permitted, with an unsubscribe link in every message | | Meeting legal, tax and regulatory obligations, responding to lawful requests | Legal obligation | | Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims | Legitimate interests |
We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Verification decisions about professional accounts are made by a person.
5. Payments
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers acting under their own terms and privacy policies. We receive a confirmation of the transaction, the amount, the currency and a transaction identifier, and we use it to update the project, booking and payout records. We never store full card numbers or security codes.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- The other party to your transaction. If you hire a professional, that professional sees what is necessary to do the work: your name, the project or booking details, and the files you upload. If you work as a professional, customers see your public profile and the messages you send.
- Service providers (processors). Hosting and database services, authentication, payment processing, file storage, email delivery, error monitoring and customer support tooling. They act on our instructions and are bound by written agreements.
- Verification providers. Where an identity or qualification check is required.
- Professional advisers and authorities. Where necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, safety and property of LingVata, our users or the public.
- A buyer or successor. If the business is sold, merged or reorganised, data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
- Aggregated information. Statistics that cannot reasonably identify you, for example the number of completed projects.
7. International transfers
We are based in the United States and process data there. Where personal data protected by the GDPR or UK GDPR is transferred from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, together with supplemental measures such as encryption in transit and access controls. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguards from privacy@lingvata.com.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the Platform, preference cookies to remember your language, currency and theme, and analytics cookies only where you have consented. See the Cookie Policy for details and for how to withdraw consent.
9. How long we keep data
Account data is kept while your account is active and for 90 days after closure. Project files and messages are kept for the duration of the job and for 12 months after completion so that revisions and disputes can be handled. Financial records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Verification documents are kept while the professional is active and for 24 months afterwards. Acceptance records are kept to demonstrate compliance. The Data Retention and Deletion Policy sets out each period.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know whether we process your personal data and receive a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete data, subject to legal retention obligations;
- restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing;
- receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal;
- not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing;
- California residents: know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither), limit use of sensitive personal information, and be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. You may use an authorised agent.
To exercise a right, email privacy@lingvata.com from the address registered to your account, or write to us at the postal address above. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting. We respond within 30 days, or 45 days for California requests where an extension is permitted, and we will tell you if we need more time. If we refuse a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and you may complain to your local data protection authority or, in California, to the California Privacy Protection Agency or the Attorney General.
11. Security
We use encryption in transit, encryption at rest where supported, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, private storage for uploaded documents with time-limited signed links, audit logging and least-privilege access for staff. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
12. Children
The Platform is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact privacy@lingvata.com and we will delete it.
13. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track users across third-party websites for advertising. Where a browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of sale or sharing of personal data; because we neither sell nor share personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising, no further action is needed.
14. Changes to this Policy
We publish a version number and an effective date for every version of this Policy and preserve previous versions in the Legal Center. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will notify you in the Platform or by email and, where the law requires it, ask for your acceptance before the change applies.
